Another Oliver!

I had a very busy day today but I still managed to make this card this evening! My hubby was so nice and bought me a Cuttlebug for our wedding anniversary and I am loving the new dimension it adds to my work! For this card I used mostly Bizzik cardstock...I don't know the exact name of the plum color! Perhaps that is something I should take closer note of in the future! I just find while I am shopping I tend to be in a different frame of mind as I am thinking about coordinating layouts!

Well for this Oliver card I used my new Nestibilities and new Cuttlebug winter embossing folder! I stamped Oliver with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored him with Copics! I added the border to the white layer with my corner punch then stamped and distressed the 'just chillin' sentiment topped off with a snowflake and brad! Totally cute!

Remembering Henry....For Sarah and Family

During my blog hopping the other day, I came across another fantastic blog called Crafts By Kim. Before I could really look through her blog, my attention was captured by the first entry on the top of her blog called Blog Candy For A Cause. As I read on, my heart was filled with sadness as I read about a familiar crafter on Split Coast Stampers who recently lost her three year old son Henry suddenly to a viral infection. I can't imagine the pain and sorrow that would accompany the death of a child especially at such a young age. My heart fell to pieces for Sarah and her family. Because we as stampers/scrappers really are our own little family it is important that we embrace each other. Therefore, Kim is calling for an outpouring of love and support by making a card and sending it to her in which she will then forward a package to Sarah. So I decided to make a card for her. I did want to keep it simple
and pretty so i decided to use this stamp from the greeting farm.

Would you like to show your support to our fellow stamper friend during a time of sorrow? Just follow this link for all the information.

Copic Class!!

So yesterday I joined my friend Whitney and together we attended the Copic Class at Scrappin Great Deals!!! This was my first time attending a card class there and I loved it!!! The class was lead by Kimmie and Andrea and they were great! Andrea did have to leave the class early due to a prior injury which left Kimmie to hold down the fort! Together we made four cards; two designed by Kimmie and the other two by Andrea which used the new Kraftin Kimmie Stamp Releases. There were four stations set up in which you just moved from one to another as you completed the card! Kimmie was great for helping anyone with Copic Colouring technique but I just bugged my friend and she was *happy* to help! I can't wait to go to the next class in January!

Here are two of the four cards we made! Take a look!

So this is Oliver! Isn't this card gorgeous? This is one of Kimmie's designs. I just love the colors. The ribbon is so adorable too...it almost looks like a garter! As for the coloring....boy did this take alot of effort! Even though I don't consider myself brand new to colouring with Copic's I do feel that I am sort of an amateur with the blending! However I learned some great info during the class! We were taught to begin coloring one portion at a time rather than coloring the whole card at once. Then to do the shading, Kimmie told us that it is best to use a *swooshing* effect! Making little brush strokes on the edge of the image then following that with the first lighter color again before continuing the process with the other shades of gray, after completing this process you then take your lightest colour and in a circular motion blend the total image together! I must admit Whitney was a great teacher and motivator to keep me blending until I got it right! And in the end I am happy with my chillin' Oliver! With each card we made we were provided with a sheet that listed the copics used which I am going to share with you! For Oliver we used:
Body: C00, C1, C3, C5, C7
Beak and Feet: Y32
Hat: R43
Mug: R11, R12

Even though I already own Antoinette, I was more than thrilled to make another card with her during class! I must say my favorite part of this card is the patterned paper called Colourful Christmas! I just love the unconvetional use of colour...I am very much a girly girl along with my sister and have a soft spot for anything ~*pretty*~ and this paper is just that.....pretty =) Here is the list of Copics we used:
Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20
Hair: E42, E43
Dress: BG000, BG01, R83, R85
Scarf, Muffs, Skates: YG 23, YR12
*Kimmie's Design as well*
Of the many great benefits to attending the Copic class, attendees were able to purchase Copic markers at 20% off!!!! WOW! Can you say spend, spend, spend??? I guess that is why the digital display at the cash register reads "Don't worry, we don't tell husbands!" LOL!!! The first time I seen that I couldn't help but chuckle as I walked around the store filling my basket =)

Christmas Angel =)

Wow where has 2009 gone?? This time last year I was *patiently* awaiting for the final of weeks of work to go by with anticipation of the arrival of our first baby! It is hard to believe that another year is coming to a close which means Christmas is right around the corner!!! There is no other time of the year that is more magical than Christmas and this year is going to be the best to celebrate with our little boy!!!!

So, with the Christmas season approaching it is time to start thinking about Christmas themed cards! I picked this cute Greeting Farm stamp up at Scrappin Great Deals the other day and couldn't wait to get the Copics out and start coloring! =) She looks so peaceful and I thought "silent night" was an appropriate sentiment. This is now part of my homemade Christmas cards for the 2009 season! I am currently waiting for some new stamps to arrive then I will be busy again coming up with new layouts!!!

Simple but just right!

So I had a request to make a packet of sympathy cards for a friend. I actually had never made a sympathy card before so this was a first! I decided to keep it pretty simple and it worked! I am really happy with how this card turned out. The paper is loose Bazzill cardstock and the flower stamp set is from Stampin' Up as well the sentiment is just an individual acrylic stamp. I think my friend is going to be really happy with them! What do you think?

Gifted to Give

Well last night was my mother in-laws 50th birthday celebration...she was so surprised to see all her friends and family there waiting to celebrate with her! She has forever been complaining that she never has pictures of all her grandkids in her purse to show to people....well I fixed that! For her birthday gift I made her a chipboard brag book album! Needless to say, when she turned the first page over she was brought to tears! It felt good to know that she truly appreciated the gift. For the outside of the album I used some leftover patterened paper from my card kit then mixed up the design for each page on the insde!! I was really happy with how it turned out! Yesterday was such a busy day that we were running late to get there for the big "surprise" so I only managed to snap one quick picture of the album =)

Spookeriffic!!!

This is my little mans first Halloween! Isn't he cute dressed as a bear?? He had a blast wearing his costume and standing in front of the mirror laughing at his reflection! It was so much fun to take him to visit family and friends all dressed up!
Well I have had a couple of requests for specific occasion kits so it was off to Scrappin Great Deals to replenish some stock! I had fun picking out some new patterened paper! Isn't patterened paper fun?? I always feel like a child in the toy section of a shopping store...so much excitement at the selection yet careful consideration of the final choice! I just love all the different designs! Tomorrow is going to be a busy day as I have a project to complete for a birthday gift!!
